Tom Hulme

Tom worked for Medalta Potteries as the art director but also a technician and designer starting in 1929. He was born in England and raised not far from the pottery centre of Stoke-on-Trent. He was accomplished artistically and overqualified for the work of mass-producing utilitarian ware but well-qualified for the decorating of artware. He had a good grasp of body and glaze technology and kept meticulous records of his testing to develop new colours and surfaces. He also worked at New Medalta Ceramics.
